Please allow me to take this opportunity to
wish all of you a very healthy and abundant New Year! As
many of you are aware, in numerology, the year 2006
vibrates to the number "8" (2+0+0+6= 8 ), so we are in
for a year of expansion! This number means a year of
strength and fortitude and for building things with
vision…sounds like that is a perfect match for what Soul
Spa will be doing this year! If you have not visited our
new location, I encourage you to do so to kick-start
your new year. All of us here are marveling at how far
we have come in such a short time and our vision for
Soul Spa is ever expanding!
With the launch of
our revolutionary "Spiritual Makeover" Program, we are
looking forward to assisting our clients and friends
with a completely holistic approach to your entire life,
from addressing the organization of your home, to
assessing your nutritional & fitness needs while
offering you personal coaching to help you
create the life you really want and deserve!
Together with our newly established semi-private
Yoga classes and our mission to offer the best quality
holistic services and workshops, we know that you will
continue to enjoy the intimate and homey atmosphere that
our clients have come to love! As many people say, we
are the best kept secret in Thornhill…. But not for

Applied Wisdom Newsletter Issue 1 - Change

Welcome
to the first issue of Soul Spa's "Applied Wisdom"
newsletter. Our desire for this newsletter is to inspire
thought and change through quotes and exercises but with
a little internet twist. We also give you the option to
email us back your exercise response. This will of
course remain private, but will give you the added
incentive of knowing that someone is following your
progress. This is also beneficial for us since we can
adapt the next newsletter dependent upon your response.
So let's begin.
So
many people are unhappy with the way things presently
are. But rather than change themselves, they attempt to
change the externals such as their partners, jobs or
children's behaviour. So what should they do and what's
wrong with changing these externals if they don't seem
to fit?
In
order to attract new positive, beneficial change, it is
necessary that we ourselves reflect that change. Have
you ever noticed how some people seem to have everything
go their way? Is it because they are luckier than us?
No, it is because they are better creators than us. They
know what they want, and through their strong desires,
the universe provides. It is their positive vibrations
and sense of knowing that the universe always gives them
what they want, is why they get what they
want.
So
if you are not focusing on what you want, you will get
what you don't want. Which is why if you don't want to
end up with the same job or relationship, change your
thoughts!

Identify
3 things in your life that you are not satisfied with
presently and exactly what it is that makes you
unsatisfied.
Now,
how would like to see them? Re-write these 3 things in
the way you would like them to be.

For
the week, pay close attention to these 3 challenges.
Each time you catch yourself thinking negative,
non-beneficial thoughts about any of the 3 things,
immediately think of what you would like instead or
something you do like about it.

intimate setting. With only a maximum of
5 students in our classes, our yoga instructors are available to meet your own personal needs.
Adult
Yoga - Hatha
- w/Rishma Hatha Yoga (Ha means Sun, Tha means Moon)
is an excellent vehicle for exercising, stretching,
& freeing the body. It can be a healthy, long lived
& vital instrument of the mind and soul. The calm
mind focuses awareness at the ajna center half an inch
above where the eyebrows join and directs awareness to
move through that center into a super-conscious
state. Rishma has been immersed in the healing arts
for over a decade. Traveling to India in the early 90's
she discovered the practices of Yoga and the practices
of Buddhism, both of which are to this day, daily
practices that make up the foundation of her
teaching. Rishma considers Yoga the greatest blessing
a person can give to themselves. " Yoga nourishes the
body, mind, and soul, giving it's practitioner serenity
instead of stress, and a lofty inner power. Confidence
increases and fear dissolves through yoga, inviting a
heightened experience of self, inner peace, health and
well being". You will become stronger, more grounded,
refreshed and full of life force each class- that's a

Asana techniques to lengthen the muscles & tone the body, providing
stimulation of the major joints & release of body tension.

Soloway All levels of practice are
welcome as we will move through the classical yoga
asanas. This is an amazing opportunity to make a

Yoga - Kripalu w/Sandra
Kripalu Yoga is an interplay of body, mind and energy. Every
act of the body is accompanied and strongly influenced
by mental and emotional conditions, the awareness of
which forms the more subtle aspect of the practice that
includes physical postures, breathing techniques, deep
relaxation and meditation.
When the flow of energy in the body is blocked due to mental and emotional
conditions, it can create stress or disease within. This type of yoga focuses
on creating balance within. Also it helps to tap into your inner knowing rather
than being dependent upon guidance from external
authorities. Thursdays
Senior Yoga
- w/Rhoda
You are invited to Rhoda's Relaxation
Repose - Gentle yoga for young seniors!!! Need to
relax? Need to de-stress? Join us for a gentle yoga class
& experience tangible benefits that may be attained
through breathing, relaxation & stretching
techniques that will free your mind, body &
spirit. Rhoda is a senior herself and has been
practicing yoga since 1966. She has emigrated 13 yrs years ago
from South Africa and
had enormous challenges that she had to face, including
health problems with severe arthritis. The path of
yoga has helped her to remain mobile & active
despite all her physical challenges. She has been
teaching seniors since she has arrived to Canada. She
incorporates a brief inspirational reading to uplift, motivate
& inspire - to get to that "feel good
feeling" easily. Tuesdays
Adult Yoga - Hatha

Breathe, Release & Relax
Anna's teaching style is very gentle yet physical. It is a pure uncomplicated style
of Hatha yoga, releasing into the postures that flow with the rhythm of the breath,
encouraging improvements in flexibility & stress relief. All participants,
regardless of ability, enjoy & benefit from their experience.
Fridays
Youth Yoga
- w/Geoff
Soloway This class will be an
introduction for youth (age 13-17yrs) interested to
learn hatha yoga. No experience is necessary, as the
class will go through the basic postures of hatha yoga,
breathing, and practices of focus and relaxation. Come
explore your body and your self in a fun and safe
environment.
Mondays -

Kids Yoga
- w/Rishma
An introduction to the basics of Yoga in a non-competitive environment,
including stretching, belly breathing & relaxation.
Kids have FUN learning different animal & nature poses like Dog pose,
Butterfly, Tree, Turtle, Triangle, Snake & Warrior pose, while developing
inner awareness, confidence & enhanced concentration.
Yoga harmonizes the body & mind & encourages healthy & strong
immune systems.
Kids who do Yoga develop a positive outlook on life & learn how to feel good
about themselves & the world around them.
Wednesdays - after

Pre-natal Yoga
- w/Rishma
Pre- Natal Yoga prepares woman physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally
for childbirth. Yoga at all stages of pregnancy increases strength, stamina & flexibility
while improving relaxation & reducing fatigue, & stress.
Pre-Natal will help to alleviate back pain, constipation, swelling, sleeplessness,
anxiety & depression.

night drumming circle. If you have at least level 1
Reiki, bring your shamanic or buffalo drum or borrow one
of ours. You've not been initiated into Reiki?
You're welcome to participate in our ceremony &
receive the healing tones & vibration. The key
element of drumming is the sound, which carries the
rhythm. Sound is energy. Sound travels in pulses and
ripples, carrying vibration. Reiki is also energy. Reiki
energy can be added to the sound waves, thus being both
carried and amplified.
