The Flowerchild Festival... The Evolution of a Dream
The fact that I am now about to announce to you that the "second coming" of the Flowerchild
Festival will take place this coming May 12th is very exciting for me. Many of you who are
close to me, will remember that, in celebration of my 40th birthday, I invited you to share
a day of "bohemian splendour" at King View Farm in late November of 2002. The day was created
and offered as my gift to friends and family to express my gratitude for all the wonderful
things that surround me every day.
Since I was very young, I had looked forward to my 40th birthday. Most people grow up dreading
the day they turn the big 4-0, but for some reason - that I could not explain at the time -
I knew in my heart that this day would mark one of the very best times in my life. When my
father passed away in April of 1997, I began what I call my "conscious" journey and from then
on, each year that passed convinced me even more that 40 would be fantastic! As I looked
around me then, I was all too aware of my limitless blessings - a loving husband, 4 incredible boys,
amazing friends & family and a deeper understanding of who I was! And so, as the actual day finally
approached, I knew that I had to do something really special to celebrate - something meaningful
that would express the true ME, and the deep appreciation I have for all the blessings in my life.

I challenge you...
Are you up for a challenge?
I challenge you for the next 30 days to commit to a meditation practice for 15 minutes once a day.
The guidelines I recommend are:
- Meditate daily for 15 minutes
- Be consistent with your time of meditation practice, it will become part of your daily routine.
Choose either the morning or evening to sit quietly.
- Become the observer of your thoughts, meditation is not about doing something, it is about just being.
- Choose a quiet place where you will not be disturbed and be sure to turn off your cell phone. You may want
to set a timer for 15 minutes, to ensure you mind does not become occupied with how many minutes have lapsed or
how many minutes you have left to complete your commitment
- Do not judge the experience you have, many people give up in frustration claiming meditation doesn't work for
them. To those people I say, all the more reason you should continue, acknowledge your frustration and keep
meditating.
- Just allow yourself to be and enjoy the 15 minutes of quiet, you will be surprised at the results you
achieve after one month of a committed meditation practice.
I invite you to share your experiences with me and the other readers
on my blog, as we can all learn from each other.

On the road to Well-Being
Holistic Health therapies have garnered a lot of interest lately and for good reason. We are finally
learning that we need to take back responsibility for our own well-being. We realize that we cannot give
our power away any longer to our doctors, depending on them to cure us. We must also take an active role
ourselves.
When attempting to return to our natural state of health and well-being, there are several areas that must be
addressed in order to make us whole.
Healing begins with healing all aspects of us, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. If any one of
these areas is not in harmony, then we cannot be fully healed and cannot experience the beauty and wonder of
the world around us. So much of our physical health depends upon our mental, emotional and spiritual state.
In fact, it is our belief that all physical ailments have their roots in one of these three areas. If these
three areas are not addressed along with the physical, healing is slowed or does not occur at all.
"If greater attention were given to the universal laws which govern all forms of life, we would naturally
mature with a respect for the guiding agencies which reveal themselves in the operation of nature." - Manly P. Hall

Detoxing our body is one of the best things we can do for our health. Think of your body like your
house: most of us choose to live in a clean house, free of dangerous debris, because otherwise it
can become a health hazard. The same is true for the cleanliness of our internal environment.
What are toxins?
Toxins are any substance that interferes with the normal functioning of the body systems, e.g. refined
sugar, is toxic to the body because it robs it of important nutrients. This can lead to nutritional
deficiencies and create an acid environment within, which in turn leads to disease over time. Other
toxins that affect our body are petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, radiation, and toxic metals like
lead, arsenic, aluminum, and mercury, all of which accumulate in the body at a cellular level for
a lifetime unless we clean them out.
Where do toxins come from?
Toxins come from many sources, our food supply being the biggest. Things like artificial colours,
flavours, additives and preservatives are abundant in our food, not to mention residues of petro-chemical
fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides used it its production. Most plastic containers used to store our
food leach phyto-estrogens that mimic human hormones, sending distorted messages to our cells leading to
cell overgrowth and dysfunctional behaviour.
The air we breathe and the water we drink can be sources of toxins: air quality, even in rural areas, is
compromised by industrial and car exhaust pollution, while water is affected by pesticide runoff.
Chemically-based household cleaners, air fresheners, and fabric softeners, as well as chemical
off-gassing from new carpets and particleboard furniture are other sources of toxins at home.

Wishing a very happy Mother's Day to our clients and families!
A mother's love determines how
We love ourselves and others.
There is no sky we'll ever see
Not lit by that first love.
Stripped of love, the universe
Would drive us mad with pain;
But we are born into a world
That greets our cries with joy.
How much I owe you for the kiss
That told me who I was!
The greatest gift--a love of life--
Lay laughing in your eyes.
Because of you my world still has
The soft grace of your smile;
And every wind of fortune bears
The scent of your caress.

We are proud to announce that Soul Spa was contacted by Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting who is
researching for a new educational medical health program called "Doctor in the House".
They want to follow us for "A Day in the Life of Soul Spa" on Thursday, May the 10th
from abut 9 am to about 5 pm. They will be interviewing us, filming our sessions and
interviewing our clients for the entire day and are particularly interested in how
complementary & alternative health care can be used in conjunction with allopathic
medicine - they have had many viewer inquiries asking about these kinds of services.
We are also being interviewed on Rogers TV. We are booked on for the Rogers cable
daytime show for May 8th, 2007. Look out for us!
